Influence of lignin type on the characterization of natural fiber polymer composites

The use of recycled raw materials and renewable sources are necessary for economical, social, environmental technological development. In this context, work aims to study the influence two lignin types, one derived from pine (Lig I) other eucalyptus, II) on polymer composites properties low density polyethylene (r-LDPE-Al) Pinus Elliotti wood flour (WF), in proportion 70% 30% matrix/reinforcement weight, respectively. r-LDPE-Al is Tetra Pak post-consumer packaging. were processed by extrusion a laboratory co-rotation twin-screw extruder. obtained evaluated through tests melt flow index (MFI), tensile strength, Charpy impact heat deflection temperature (HDT). MFI results indicated that both showed potential as agent r-LDPE-AL/WF composites, with an increase 41% 13% Lig I II, respectively, when compared composite reference 0 (without lignin). Mechanical test origin influences composites’ where I, (the same source flour) had best performance, indicating coupling agent. favorable more noble reuse packaging by-product.
